LONGMONT, Colo. – The Longmont Metropolis Council has permitted a plan to crack down on individuals dwelling in RVs and different automobiles on metropolis streets.
The council voted 5-2 Tuesday night time to approve an ordinance that updates the town’s insurance policies about on-road parking, stipulating that automobiles have to be moved recurrently and never parked in a single spot indefinitely. At present, the town requires RVs to maneuver one inch each 24 hours; the brand new ordinance would require a car be moved 600 ft or a full metropolis block each forty eight hours.
Metropolis officers informed Denver7 the coverage goals to deal with complaints from neighbors, similar to trash, noise and RVs taking up neighborhood streets.
“We’re not making an attempt to ban or restrict individuals’s proper to stay in a car,” Assistant Metropolis Supervisor Sean Lewi stated earlier this month. “However when you transfer that car each forty eight hours then nobody neighborhood is negatively affected and that is the grievance we’ve gotten from some residents.”
The change is about to enter impact in September.
