Paraglider caught in power lines in St. Petersburg; 100 lose power

A paraglider obtained caught in energy strains Tuesday morning in St. Petersburg and needed to be hospitalized.

  • Paraglider taken to Tampa Basic for burn accidents
  • Energy restored to space by midday

The incident occurred about 9 a.m. at sixtieth Road and 1st Avenue North.

Police stated the paraglider was being handled at Tampa Common Hospital for extreme burns.

A witness stated she heard three “bangs” and stated it seemed like a transformer going off.

About one hundred individuals misplaced energy within the space, and Duke Power was notified. Residents stated energy was restored earlier than midday.

Police stated there have been different paragliders within the space however that they had left the scene.
