Woman awarded for helping officer with kids during DUI investigation

Clearwater police are honoring a lady Thursday with a Samaritan Award for serving to officers care for two youngsters throughout a DUI investigation.

Police stated Megan Andrews was driving on McMullen Sales space Street on Nov. 26 when she noticed a police officer making an attempt to maintain two toddlers on the aspect of the street. The mom of the youngsters had been concerned in a minor accident and was being investigated for DUI, police stated. 

Andrews stopped and requested the officer if he wanted assist, and he shortly accepted her supply. Police stated Andrews drove house and acquired toys, snacks, and drinks for the youngsters to occupy them whereas they waited for his or her grandmother to return get them. 

“Megan might have simply pushed by the scene like most others would do,” stated Police Chief Dan Slaughter. “However she noticed a necessity and selected to become involved and assist. She epitomizes what the Samaritan Award is all about — individuals who go above and past to assist others.”
